Aurora ARG launches new exam platform
Dated: February 3rd, 2021

After nearly two months of hard work, dedication and several rounds of beta testing, the Aurora Amateur Radio Group successfully completed their first remote exam session with our new platform.  This platform, called ExamGen, is designed to run on the web and off-grid using a Raspberry Pi, all without the need of using a single sheet of paper.  Today’s exam session has begun a new chapter for us by paving the way to eliminating our need to rely on other platforms.  Our VE team that participated in today’s session were as follows:

Charles Andrews – W5AD
Mark Donaghey – AC3GX
Frank Girello – W3UF
David Hamilton – AF0H
Brandin Hess – WB1BR
Alan Reed – WT4FU
Irene Reed – NT4FU

The Aurora Amateur Radio Group wants to give a heartfelt "thank you" to Dan Purgert, AD8GC for doing the core programming and Brandin Hess, WB1BR for putting the user interface together.  Between the two developers devoting so much of their time, along with countless hours of beta testing, the Aurora Amateur Radio Group now has a solid, simple and modern exam platform that meets the needs of bandwidth restricted Americans and will allow our club to fill a tremendous void...serving the under served!  Thank you so much to the VE team for taking the time to make history for our club, and perhaps amateur radio license testing as we know it!

73,
Aurora Amateur Radio Group
