How to Become a Volunteer Examiner (VE) with the Aurora Amateur Radio Group

There are two goals in amateur radio – one is, of course, to GOTA (Get On The Air) and the other is to Get Involved. Remember when you had your first exam experience with Aurora, and how the VE’s were of great encouragement and expertise?

With at least a General license and a willingness to get involved, YOU can serve as a VE with Aurora. You have to be aware of all regulations and rules influencing Amateur Radio and the FCC. To that end, you will have to take and pass a certification exam with the ARRL, who is Aurora’s VEC (Volunteer Exam Coordinator – more info on the VEC’s can be found here.) It is a 40-question open-book exam. Once everything is in place, you can become part of Aurora’s VE Team.

Want to start the VE journey? Fill out the application here. If there are any questions, please contact our VE Team Chair at ve@aarg.club
